When Is Mental Health Awareness Week?

Mental Health Awareness Week runs from October 4 through October 10, 2020. It is sponsored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness or NAMI. During this week, the focus is on creating opportunities for people to get the mental health treatment they need. It is about talking about mental health issues, sharing information, and supporting each other in new ways to create these opportunities.

Mental Health Awareness Week Is About Education

One of the reasons mental health stigma is present in the U.S. is because most people do not know a lot about it. Education is a big component of this week. It is important to help yourself and your loved ones to learn more about the importance of taking a mental break, especially during high-stress times, such as the pandemic and periods of social unrest. It is also about investing time in learning more about treatment. Most importantly, you should know you do not have to live with these conditions and can get help from a mental health treatment program.

It Is About Supporting Others

Do you have a friend that may be depressed? Perhaps you have witnessed the manic and depressive phases of a loved one that you think may have bipolar disorder.
