Nestled behind private gates in historic Laurel Canyon, this house is located on the grounds of the famous Harry Houdini estate. Upon entering into a light-filled great room with beamed cathedral ceilings, our clients feel immediately transported to this opulent period. Replete with a formal dining room, updated gourmet kitchen, and elegantly appointed bathrooms, the Houdini House is a fan favorite. Hardwood floors throughout, double-paned windows, and lush grounds surround this property. Set back from the street with ample parking, our clients find this house to be a sanctuary. It’s almost hidden away from the loud, hectic big-city life of the nearby Sunset Strip.
This house boasts 12 beds divided amongst three bedrooms with three full bathrooms (and one half) begging to be toured. Insanely comfortable beds and welcoming sofas inspire relaxation and easy social living. Over 2,500 square feet negates any feelings of confinement or lack of personal space. Clients here genuinely like each other and are happy to come home at the end of the day. Often, residents elect to cook together and socialize in our accommodating kitchen. It is also an LGBTQI-safe atmosphere.
As with the nearby Laurel House, The proximity of the West Hollywood College Prep School, West Hollywood College Preparatory School, and Larchmont Charter Schools assure a police presence that will help residents feel safe and contained while thriving at this lower level of care. Grocery stores like Trader Joe’s, Bristol Farms Hollywood, and the Laurel Canyon Country Store are all nearby and accessible. Nearby coffee shops include Starbucks, The Coffee Bean, and Tea Leaf as well as Enigma Coffee, all within blocks of our home. Nearby restaurants include Hyde Sunset Kitchen, Hunan Cafe, and The Counter. Clients will also be near Trebek Open Space, Wattles Garden Park and Runyon Canyon Park, each offering resplendent flower and fauna for exhilarating hikes.
Unlike the Laurel House, however, The Houdini House is coed. Here men and women live and grow side-by-side. Residents learn and share as they make their way into the world recovered from the nightmare of addiction and co-occurring disorders.
This is where the nightmare ends, and recovery begins.

Dr. Deena is the Chief Clinical Officer of Westwind Recovery®, an award-winning outpatient treatment center in Los Angeles where she oversees the clinical and administrative program and treatment methods. Dr. Deena is a doctor of psychology and licensed clinical social worker since 1993. LCSW #20628. Originally from the East Coast, Dr. Deena has worked running treatment centers, worked as a therapist in psychiatric hospitals as well as school settings and currently has a thriving private practice in the LA area. Dr. Deena has appeared regularly on the Dr. Phil Show as an expert since 2003. She has also been featured on many other TV shows, podcasts and has contributed to written publications as well as podcasts.
